The screen properties
decisive for image quality, such as intensification factor, resolving power and contrast depend to such a large extent upon the object and the quality of the radiation, that we dispense with accurate curve displays and data. Filtration (prefiltering and patient absorption) of the different wavelengths, different film densities, scatter etc. can change such values so decisivaly that accurate numercial data on screens for comparisons in exposure are possible with great difficulty and usually have little significance in practice.

(CaWO4) blue
Phosphor used:
microcristalline calcium tungstate. Spectral position of the emitted screen light at the maximum at approx. 400 nm.

The requirements of radiation protection for dose reduction in
X-ray exposures – without loss of definition – led to further developments on the screen sector:

SPECIAL (200) blue (high-speed)
The sensitivity of the Special screen – depending upon voltage and object exposed – is almost double as high as that of a customary Universal screen.

UNIVERSAL (200) blue
This screen combines relatively high sensitivity (reducing kinetic blurring and dose) with excellent detail perceptibility. It is suitable for all unit types and types of exposure.

LGY
(Rare-earths basis) blue
X-ray intensifying screens on rare-earths basis for blue-sensitive films.

Intensifying screens with fluorescent substances of high light yield on rare-earths basis (yttrium oxisulfide with terbium) have found broad application.

Our Dr. Goos LGY screens, which can be used with all customary X-ray films in a conventional manner, are based on a phoshor with light emission adapted to blue-sensitive films.

LGY-HIGH-SPEED (400) blue
Very highly intensifying type.
Relative intensification 4 compared with Universal (CaWo4).
Good definition.

LGY-medium (200) blue
Medium sensitivity.
Relative intensification 2
(corresponding to Special screen).
Higher definition.
LGG
(Rare-earths basis) green
X-ray intensifying screens on
rare-earths basis for green-
sensitive films.

This screen type based on
gadolinium oxisulfide is effective only in the green spectral range around 550 nm. Very low graininess, therefore good definition.

LGG-HIGH-SPEED (400) green
Very highly intensifying type.
Relative intensification 4.
Good definition.

LGG-MEDIUM (200) green
Medium sensitivity.
Relative intensification 2.
Higher definition.

On request, even higher sensitivity classes (e. g. 600, 800) can be manufactured.
